Love/Hate List

Sheesh, I haven't done one of these posts in FOREVER so let's get down on it. (you can read previous posts here and here) Here are some things I've been lovin'/hatin'.

Love:
Along with the homemade bread boards Mitch made me, I'm lovin' these cute little flats that he got me for Christmas. He done good, folks...real good.

Hate:
That while I had the best of intentions, all I got Mitch for Christmas were a pair of jeans and socks. How lame is that? (he does look mighty fine in his new jeans though, so I guess that's a plus)

Love:
Another Christmas gift from Mitchell:

FYI, while I usually forbid technology-related gifts in our house (they're just so impersonal, I think), I was pretty dang excited when I opened up this gift. (it's an iPhone 4s for those of us who have no clue about these things)

Hate:
That the iPhone case that I like is $40. Ridic.

Love:
The boys' new ceiling color. It's Ben Moore Dark Olive and I can't wait to see it all finished (we're thinkin' it needs another coat). It's gonna look pretty sweet when the crown goes up. Yum. (the boys' room is ALMOST done...and I think you guys are gonna love it! We rocked the vintage camping theme.)

Hate:
Generic crayons. Seriously, pay the extra .50 cents and buy Crayola, people.

Love:
This new picture hanger that Mitch got at Lowe's to hang our big-ace sunburst mirror.

Hate:
That after Mitch reattached the base molding in our living room, there's some of the old red paint color that's peeking through. And the worst part--I don't know if we have any of the current color left to cover it up. But then again, after looking at this picture, it looks like the entire wall needs a fresh coat...sigh.

Love:
These PJs Mitch got me for Christmas. Yep, they were on my list. They're fun, cute and super soft. And it looks like they're no longer available...sorry:(

Target gold polka dot pajamas

Hate:
That the mirror I had cut to fit in our antique mantel is cheap-looking. It reminds me of those mirrors in a fun house. Ya know the ones that make you look all distorted. Not cool. I had originally bought a mirror off Craigslist to have cut to size, well the guy at the hardware store screwed up and cut too much off it, thus giving me this cheap-o one. Not sure what/if I'm going to do anything about it. (and yes, there is usually that much crap on my dresser, so I can't even pretend that it's never like that and apologize for it...I'm pretty messy, not gonna lie.)

Love:
That Bryce thinks Finn's name is Finnegan.  We do call him Finnegan a lot so I guess it's our fault. But it's so cute when you ask him what his baby brother's name is and he answers "Finnegan!"

Hate:
You guys know about my broken slab o' granite, right? Yeah, well I thought that problem was solved when I was perusing my local ReStore's FB page and saw some MARBLE slabs they were selling for super cheap. I called the ReStore as soon as I saw the pics and talked with the manager who told me he'd hold a piece for me. I went first thing the next morning to claim my piece of marble (to be used in place of the broken granite one for our counter), only to find out that the other manager sold all the marble to another lady right around the same time I was on the phone inquiring about my piece. Sad times. I was super bummed. But Mitch assures me that he can fix our strugglin' piece of granite and that I won't even be able to see the crack. So here it still sits waiting for the glue to arrive in the mail that will put it back together again.

Love:
That we had a pretty stress-free holiday season. Well if ya don't count Finn's fussiness at the New Years' Eve party we went to...and had to leave early because of. Eh...we were all pretty exhausted when the clock struck 7:30 anyway. Yeah...life with littles can be a wee bit exhausting sometimes:/

What have you guys been lovin'/hatin' lately? Mitch is going to be sharing his love/hate list with you guys (hopefully tomorrow) so come back and check out what made the cut. Have a lovely day!

  2. Great idea! I have some shoes similar to your flats but mine are wedges, wish they were flats. Welcome to the iphone world! Now get on instagram! Also to ease your mind about the phone case you like, it is terrible. I have a kate spade hard case and I hated it. It is so clunky and you cannot get it off of the phone without breaking it. Plus it is slippery and I kept dropping my phone. It is stripes not dots but I will give it to you if you want to see if you like it before you plop down $40! Love that ceiling, can't wait to see the room finished. Maybe if you antique the mirror you would like it better but then it would be harder to use, but then again if it looks like a fun house mirror it is pretty much for show anyway? Love the new pics of Finnegan.

  3. I love your list -- super fun to read through. If it makes you feel better, my husband totally rocked the Christmas gifts this year -- me not so much. I LOVE the ceiling in the boys' room. Can't wait to see it all finished! And, generic crayons made me laugh out loud -- seriously! They're TERRIBLE!

  5. Suggestion for the baseboards...for now (in case you're just not that into painting the walls again) attach a piece of flat molding on the wall an inch or so above the current baseboards, then just paint the wall and the new molding (okay you might have to paint the current molding) and you'll have a wider base molding without having to do much else! Saw it here but you can pretend I was the genius that thought of it!! :)

  6. Oooh the dark ceiling is fantastic! Can't wait to see the room all finished up and looking as gorgeous as the rest of your house. And leopard flats, always a good choice. I wear mine like they're neutrals.
