Brick Walkways

So instead of packing right now for a weekend getaway to the mountains, I'm showing you guys some pics of walkways. Yeah, that's me--last minute girl here. I just HAD to show you what Mitch and I scored last night. So here are the inspiration pics first.

Is it just me or aren't brick walkways so irresistibly charming? 

And now for our "find."

Here's the quick version of the story: several building are being knocked down near us (as we speak ) so we drove to the location on Monday evening and just so happened to run into the owner of the property (who just so happens to go to our church) and he said we could take however many bricks we wanted. He also informed us that they're handmade, larger bricks than normal and they'd be easier to clean up than your average brick. (Something to do with the mortar not sealing to the brick). He said that 30 years ago they cost him about 30 cents a brick (also informed us it'd probably be at least 3 times that amount now!) So Mitch (with the help of his dad) went back last night and loaded up two truck loads full of these puppies.

So now we have a pile of bricks in our driveway. Awesome.

We're excited about the possibility of making a new walkway up to our front door (the current cement one is STRUGGLIN'). I just hope we have enough since it'll be pretty much impossible to match these bricks with current ones. Keep your fingers crossed for us, would ya?
