I try to think of recipes that I can get the boys involved in and something I think they'd enjoy. What better activity than dunking pretzels in some chocolate! First they sorted through the pretzels, picking the whole ones or larger broken pieces. Then we melted the chocolate in the microwave (easiest way to melt chocolate, I've found) and viola! we have a tasty treat.
Of course there was some sampling in between.
This is Bryce's face when I asked him to smile. Go figure.
The production line:)
And with the leftover chocolate, we made a few of these.
They're quite amazing, if you've never had one. It's simply two Ritz crackers with peanut butter in between, dipped in chocolate. Yummm.
The chocolate that we used was actually a confectionery coating made with cocoa powder. They're little disk-like pieces that melt very easily in the microwave.
They're made at Wilbur Chocolate Company, a local business that makes amazing chocolate. And the pretzels we used were Unique "Splits". Another local company that makes seriously the best pretzels ever.
So anyway, I thought it'd be fun to give away a bag of chocolate and pretzels to a non-PA resident (unless you live somewhere in PA where you've never heard of/tried these treats--they're more of a Lancaster Co. thing.) And you can make these yummy chocolate covered pretzels yourself! Here are the rules:
U.S. and Canadian friends only, please.
For one entry, become a follower (either Google or FB is fine) and tell me you are.
For another entry, FB or tweet about this giveaway and tell me you did in a separate entry.
That's it. And you could be munching on "the best chocolate covered pretzels I've ever had" quoted directly from Mitchell Hertzler (aka my husband).
