Staying Busy

Sorry I've been MIA lately. It's not because I'm being lazy, let me tell ya. My days are pretty much jam packed. I've been watching two other kids during the day for 10 hours a day. Five days a week. So yeah, in total, I'm watching four kids ages four, three, almost two and 10 months. So that, in and of itself is pretty much exhausting. But in between naps, and breaking up arguments over who gets to sit on which couch, I've been also painting. Painting doors, cabinets, pretty much whatever needs done. And there's a lot that needs done. Not only are we renovating our house, but we're using lots of salvaged materials--which means lots of sanding, scraping, repairing, and painting. Busy work. And I'm trying to do all that stuff myself rather than adding it to Mitch's work load. Let me show you what I've been up to. I know I showed you all my painted barn door already, but I'm proud of how that puppy turned out, so here she is again.

This is a cabinet I got a while ago that needed painting. Although I was diggin' the wood look on this little oak guy, in its previous life, it was owned by smokers. So yeah...pretty much had no choice but to prime and paint it.

This is the base of the cabinet. It needs some major help.

I really did feel bad about having to paint this. You could tell that it had been painted twice already and had been carefully restored to its wood-stained past life. I loved the robin's egg blue I spotted and a yellow layer as well. Here it is all primed. I literally slapped on the Kilz inside. I'll probably end up lining the shelves with something--contact paper or fabric.

I started painting it today, and don't like the color I used. It was a mix of randoms we had lying around. So...I have to find another color I like and REpaint it. Fun times.

We have big plans for this door. I washed it down the other day and now it's ready to be sanded. We're planning on making it into a Dutch door and using it in our dining room. Big plans, I tell ya.

So that's that. Now you understand why I've been slackin' in the post dept? Oh and I'm still getting over a nasty cold I had from last week. Too many things to do and not enough time in the day. Do you feel the same way? What in the world am I going to do with myself when this reno is done?? I'm sure there'll be something else;)
