I was proud of myself last night. I made a delicious dinner (if I must say so myself) with a couple of mahi-mahi fillets. Oh my word. They were awesome. I used Pampered Chef's Ginger-Wisabi Sauce to marinate them in and pour over top. Yum to the O. And Ry and I baked a semi-healthful coffee cake. I kinda made it up myself. It had cranberry sauce diced up in it (love the tart), and I used mostly whole wheat flour, and honey with a little bit of homemade applesauce to sweeten it. I did make a crumb topping with brown sugar simply cause that's the best part of any coffee cake. But I didn't realize until after I stuck it in the oven that this cake was going to be turned over. Oh well, the crumb "topping" is on the bottom. Still tastes great.
So good meal, check. Dishes cleaned up, check. Toys put away, check. Floor vacuumed, check. I was doing good. Kids were in bed and I even had time to read the chapter for my Bible study on Thursday. It was about 9:00 and I was pooped. But I stayed up and chatted with Mitch for a little while then decided to hit the sack. Why stay up when you're exhausted? I was in la la land in a matter of minutes. But the bliss didn't last too long. Around 12:30 Ryder decides he wants to bang on our door. Fun being woken up like that. So after he settles down, back to sleep I go. Until about 1:30 when this time, it's not a bang on the door, but a bang on the head. We have two landscape "portraits" hanging above our bed. Well one decided it wanted down and clocked me right in the forehead. Again, not the greatest way to wake up. So there I was with a frozen burrito pressed to my head, confused, hurting, with an egg protruding that Mitch feels like he needs to touch. Not really what I was hoping when I decided to retire for the evening.
How was your night? Did you sleep soundly? Or did it start out like mine only to end in disaster? Funny thing is, before I fell asleep, I said a prayer for a fellow blogger who is expecting in a couple of short weeks. I prayed that she'd have a nice, sound sleep. Then this happens. What's that all about? Here's hoping for better slumber tonight.
