Kitchen Cabinets

I'm so pumped. Yesterday I went to the cabinetmaker's shop. I had to pick out a paint color as well as some hardware. While there, I sneaked a peek of our freshly made cabinets. Here they be.

It just fascinated me to see our cabinets there in their rawest form. I mean, I know this is how cabinets are made but to just see the whole process right before your eyes...it was awesome and gave me a new found appreciation for woodworkers. How cool is this--I picked out these cabinets, chose colors, hardware...shoot, I feel like a designer! I just hope they turn out the way I see them in my head. I know this process shouldn't stress me out, but I must admit, it does a little bit. I feel like these are huge life-altering decisions--paint color, hardware, even which stinkin'  hinge to choose. (Ya think I'm overreacting a bit?) You should have seen my quiet Amish cabinetmaker yesterday while I was mulling over seed pearl or designer white. I think he thought I was crazy. Most of all, I can't believe we're getting a new kitchen. This is what I've been dreaming about for forever. I've poured over magazines, searched the internet, flipped through kitchen books--always looking for and noting kitchens that I love. And now I'm getting one. Sheesh. I still can't believe it's actually happening. I seriously feel like the luckiest girl ever.

Here's the hardware I chose. I'm lovin' me some oil rubbed bronze right now. I think they'll pop against the creamy white cabinets.

So stayed tuned--we're ripping out our old cabinets this weekend. Actually I should say, we're gently removing our old cabinets. They're being reused by a friend. And Adin (our cabinetmaker) is *fingers crossed* installing our newbies next week. Shoot, I don't care if it's on Christmas day. Okay, maybe not Christmas day...but soon! And I'll have the play-by-play right here.
