I'm sitting here enjoying the quietness of this morning. So far, no one is stirring and it's possibly the world's best non-sound I could hear. Quietness is awesome. It makes me want to skip to my Lou on these mountaintops.

I woke up earlier this morning than I normally do . See, I'm a slacker and I like my sleep. My husband and kids like when I get my sleep. It's no fun when momma's tired. Anyway, when I woke around 6:00 this morning, I knew I wouldn't be able to fall back to sleep so I got up, fixed myself a cup o' tea, read a Psalm and prayed for help for today. Now here I am. I'm not really sure where this post is headed. I guess I'm just rambling. But I must say...I'm ready to start decorating for Christmas. Bring it on, red and green! I'm ready to hear Bing on the radio singing the ol' classics as well as air guitar rockin' to Metallica's Carol of the Bells. But before I go all gung-ho on Christmas, let me show you my fall mantlescape.

I got the mantle at a yard sale last year for $5. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. The guy who was selling it made it himself for above his fireplace but it didn't work out. It's all wood and well made. I love all its little details. And I LOVE that I can still have a mantle even if we don't have a fireplace. The fall foliage I got post-season a few years back for a couple bucks. The wooden vases were another yard sale find for $1. The mirror is an antique that was Mitch's grandfather's. I love it. I noticed it hanging in Mitch's room when we were dating and I knew he (Mitch) was a keeper. And the antlers are Mitch's Dad's. It's one he got himself. Antlers are really in right now so I thought I'd jump on that bandwagon. Shoot, why not--especially since they're free? And the little white hobnail candle holders I got at an auction years ago.

So there ya have it--a little fall fun before we get all decked out for Christmas. Now excuse me as I go break out the stockings.

  1. Hi! I couldn't find your email so I'm just leaving this in a comment. I found the bag on Etsy and I love it because it is so not baby-ish!
    Thanks for stopping by!
PS My sister-in-law lives in PA and we love visiting there :)
